We’re a small company and because of that, we can offer more personalized service. Over the years, we have built up quite a sizeable customer list. Some have been with us for many years. We are proud of the return business and the referrals we get. We stand behind all of our work, and we work hard to make sure our customers are happy with the results. Our specialty is with outside water: irrigation, drainage, and copper main lines. We don’t plant flowers or trim trees, fertilize lawn, or lay bricks. But, we have a list of contractors we can recommend for these services. Our crew has a total of 20 years of experience in our field. They are skilled and very knowledgeable. They know the quality of work that is expected and take pride in what they do. We don’t use day laborers. We know that irrigation prices are often a shock. If you get bids from other companies, understand that gardeners and handymen are always going to be less expensive. But, they won’t likely have our knowledge and in most cases, don’t provide the guarantees or the follow up service that we do. It may seem an easy task to lay sprinklers, but knowing what to use and where, comes with experience. We have been called in to more than one property to repair and or replace poorly installed sprinklers. Sometimes the lower bid isn’t. And let’s not forget the drains. After out wet winter we have seen the results of inadequate or clogged drainage. Drains get clogged during the year with no water flowing through them to keep them clear. Roots have nasty habit of finding their way into your drains too. Check your drains with a garden hose every once in a while. If the water comes out the other end, you’re in good shape. If it doesn’t call us. We’ll try to rooter it first, but if it’s too bad, we’ll replace the problem section. Just don’t ignore them – a little maintenance can save a lot.
After we’re finished you will still need adjustments from time to time. We recommend service at least once a year. When your irrigation system is working properly your plants should be growing at a wonderful rate. But, plants don’t always grow at the same speed and sometimes the faster growing plants will block smaller ones and keep them from getting adequate water. This is when heads need to be raised and adjusted. Placement of children’s play gyms or permanent lawn furniture will also interrupt the flow of water to sections of your lawn and heads will need to be shifted. And, please keep in mind, if you change the design of your landscape, the design of your sprinklers will also need to be changed. Over the course of a year, it is normal for the heads to get clogged or stuck. Broken or bent heads usually result from contact with animals, bikes, cars, trash cans, or people’s feet. Yu may feel that some of this can be done by your gardener, and quite often they do replace broken heads and make adjustments. But we still recommend you call us at least once a year to go over the complete system. Often we find incorrect heads on place sprinklers not at the proper height or direction and even heads that have been shut off completely. Most properties can be serviced in about an hour, and while we’re there we always check the clock and the electrical. Most gardeners operate the sprinklers from the valves, not the clock. Wires can be cut accidentally or become corroded over time. When this happens, one or more of your stations will not be operating and this may go unnoticed especially if your sprinklers go on in the early morning hours. We will also reset your clock for the season at this time. Throughout the year, make it a point to check the clock for the correct time. If the time is off, it means you might have experienced a power failure and you will need to replace the back up battery and reprogram the clock.
We use Sch 40 PVC which is the heaviest pipe. Because it is thicker, it is more resistant to shovels and other garden tools.
We only use brass actuators. They are more reliable than the plastic ones. And have a much longer life.
We prefer Hunter Heads. We have found they can be adjusted more accurately and will stay in place longer. Some of the other brands tend to jam or go out of adjustment easily so you are flooding one spot or watering our patio furniture.
Even though heads may look the same, there are many, many variations, all with a specific purpose. Some restrict the volume of water, others regulate distance and direction. Using the proper combination of heads on any given line is an important consideration, just as replacing a head with the incorrect type can affect the others on that line.
There are many irrigation clocks on the market at a wide range of prices. If you have a working clock and it has enough statins available, we will use that. But, if you need a new or larger clock, the one we have found to be the most reliable, is also the most versatile. Because it is digital. You can set each station for exactly the amount of time you need. Even for one minute if necessary. Its three programs allow for even more specific watering frequency. Every day for the hot areas, once a week for the dark areas. This is a top of the line product, but just as important, its one that is easy to use.
