Poor drainage can result in some big problems. Excess water can do a lot of damage, as some of you may have found out. It's true, we haven't had much rain in the recent years, but eventually we'll get some, so be prepared. We always recommend the drains be checked at least once a year to make sure they are clear and free flowing to the street. When it's raining, most properties should have water flowing out of the round holes in your curb. If it's not, that means all that water is going somewhere else. Wonder where?
Drainage lines can become clogged or cracked and roots are quite often the culprit. They have a nasty habit of finding their way into the pipes and quietly doing their damage. They are easy to check even if it's not raining. Take a garden hose and turn it on to run through one of the drains on your property (the farthest from the street is best). Eventually, the water should come out on the street. Roof gutters are another area many people forget about. Clogged gutters could lead to the roof collapsing. You probably wouldn't have that drastic a result, but leaks in the roof can result in damage inside your home and quite possibly mold problems in the future. Leaves and debris can pile up in the gutters very easily. And, if you have a flat roof, most definitely, you need to check the rain gutters and clear them prior to the rainy season. It's a quick fix compared to making repairs after the fact. And don't forget to check the downspouts. If there are turns or elbows in them, these are ideal spots for clogs. If you’re drainage system is not in good condition, we will come to you and install new, durable drainage systems.
